Add child jobs or tasks to a parent job

Overview

Break a visit into a billable parent job plus non-billable tasks (child jobs) for prep work, follow-ups, or crew checklists.

Before you begin

  • Parent job exists and is a standard billable job.

Steps

  1. Open the parent job detail page.
  2. Use Add child job or Schedule child jobs from the actions menu (often after accepting an estimate).
  3. Choose Task as the job kind for checklist-style work, or add standard child visits as needed.
  4. Set dates and crew for each child.
  5. Complete tasks before marking the parent Completed (parent completion may require all tasks done).

⚠️ Note: Tasks are not billable on their own; the parent job carries invoice totals.

Verify it worked

Child rows appear under the parent job; open tasks block parent completion until finished.
